Knuckles the Echidna is a fictional character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He made his debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as an antagonist, though later became a protagonist in the spin-off game Sonic and Knuckles. He is also the former leader of Team Chaotix, after passing his role onto Espio the Chameleon.
It should be noted that because Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released after Sonic CD, Knuckles is technically the fourth member of Team Sonic, despite Amy's absence in Sonic Mania.
